R449A as a retrofit solution for R404A and R507 systems

R449A is designed for use in existing systems that were operated with R404A or R507. Since it is compatible with POE oil, a complete oil change is unnecessary in many cases. Before any retrofit, a professional inspection of the system is required to ensure that compressors, expansion valves, and seals are suitable for operation with R449A.

Compatibility concerns the refrigerant as well as the components used. Connections, hoses, and safety valves must be checked for suitability. Some system manufacturers provide explicit approvals for R449A – the manufacturer documentation must be checked before the retrofit. Only refrigerant that complies with the EN 378 and ISO 817 standards is to be used.
